A Little Bit of Photoshop tomfoolery !
.
Next week is the Annual Photography competition at my local camera club. There are 6 categories and you have to enter 5 of them, with photos you have never entered before.. They have changed the categories this year and one of the new ones is called Creative and as I can’t enter the Sport category, because I never shoot sport, I had to enter the Creative one… hmmm what to do..
It had to be something imaginative the rules said and suggested some sort of composite.. I’ve never done anything like this before ( apart from a rather amateurish snail one ages ago) but this is what I came up with using 3 separate photos. Long-time followers of this blog will recognise 2 of them. It was great fun to do but as you can see I have a lot to learn!
It’s called “In the Bluebell Wood, dreaming of flying “
.
If you don’t already know my other blog 1500 Saturdays I hope you’ll pop over and take a look here I haven’t been posting much there lately but I’m sure you’ll find something to read.
.
or you can take a look at my Redbubble page here
.
I like it……..
What have you put in the other categories?
Ah Stuart – this one for travel – https://helensphotomania.wordpress.com/page/2/?s=venice but with original colour and tweeked a bit. THis one for natural world – https://helensphotomania.wordpress.com/2013/11/24/oh-so-very-delicate-2/ again after a little work. Same with landscape ( which can also be seascape ) https://helensphotomania.wordpress.com/2014/02/24/all-at-sea-2/ and the second shot down of this 1500 poats for the people section http://hellenjc.wordpress.com/2013/02/02/the-rain-room-a-place-where-you-dont-get-wet/
Hadn’t seen Rain Room shot before…That’s a doozy!
Make some room on your mantelpiece!
🙂
(No-one likes a queue jumper, even one with a limp).
haha.. I’m not in this world to be liked ! I’m hoping Doozy is good ! .. I don’t think I’ll need room on the mantelpiece ( if I had one which I don’t! ) there are a couple of brilliant photograhers in the group and judges are notoriously hard to read.. if he’s a stuffy trasditional type I don’t think he’ll like this !
Doozy IS good…..
🙂
Oh that’s okay then !
I recognize the bluebell woods and the raptor from your trip with your son (right?)….and…is that Andy? 😉
Haven’t used the raptor one befaore.. you’re right about the bluebell wood Scilla… It’s not Andy . It’s this man https://helensphotomania.wordpress.com/?s=people
Clever! I like it.
Thanks me dear!
Very pretty colors and great composition!
Thanks Mpejovic.. I appreciate your words 🙂
Wow 🙂
😀
Well done Helen it works very well and has a great narrative content, I hope you let us know how you got on……you never know how a judge will respond. The most difficult part of a montage is getting the original idea and finding suitable material, and that’s what I find particularly difficult….the initial idea.
Well done.
Oh,…..and your set of entries is a strong one. I love the rain and the fungus….thanks very much Helen for allowing us to see them….good luck.
Thanks John.. when I replied to Stuart I didn’t think that others would see them.. feel a bit embarrased 🙂
….but it’s so interesting to see what other club photographers get up to. I too feel embarrassed because at the club dinner last night I came away with four cups from the season just completed. Must buy some silver polish!
Oh very, very well done John ! I am not at all surprised because your work is always so fine!
Thanks Helen. Doing my daily blog posting has helped to improve my work over the last two years, as I’m sure it has yours.
most definitely John.. though of course I haven’t been posting veryday for the last 15 months or so… it’s soooo time consuming 🙂
I struggled to find an idea John.. found it really, really difficult to think of something !
Oh I think this is great, Helen! I’ve never attempted anything like this, I wouldn’t know where to start, but this looks very good indeed – and the more so as a first attempt. Good stuff! Adrian 🙂
Thanks Adrian.. when I am looking at it now I wish I had made the man a little bigger.. ah well too late now !
Wonderful, creative, and imaginative, Helen. All the best with the competition.
Thanks Meanderer.. very kind 🙂
For your first Composite that is very impressive, Helen. Good luck in the competition.
Thanks Andy.. Have you done a lot of this?
Only one major one – they take time and effort, but you often learn a lot in the process. If you’re interested you can see the evolution of my effort by looking at this link: http://lensscaper.wordpress.com/2012/01/27/whymper-the-matterhorn-and-the-monte-rosa-hotel/
thanks Andy I enjoyed the post very much 🙂
A poetic and well crafted image Helen, brilliant actually if it’s your first. Did you need to learn Photo Shop to put this together? I’ve been tempted but it looks like a steep learning curve. Good luck in the competition…
Thanks John.. I did need to learn it a bit ,I attended a course put on by a local camera club but actually learnt more from a friend of mine.. There is MUCH to learn.. I have Elements which is a pared down version of Photoshop and very good.
Awesome!
Thanks Judy
Very best of luck Helen-you deserve a win!
Thanks Elena .. just about to post the results !
Wow, Helen, this fascinates me. Incredible light and magic, nicely done!
Thaks Karen… about to post the results of the competition
