Portrait of a Day at Wimbledon – Ground staff

Yesterday I gave you the umpire and today it’s the turn of the ground staff and something that is all too familiar at Wimbledon…

Oh No!! please don’t tell me that…

Afraid so! here comes the rain but she’s not bothered she’s got a glass of Pimm’s and it’s no good you putting your hand out Mrs it hasn’t stopped !
Get ready for the covers…

…here they come

so the covers are on but…
.
….not for long. 10 minutes later the ground staff put them away again but it ain’t that easy!

OOOPs there she goes…
How un-chivalrous of him to laugh !

The ground staff work very hard and always get a well deserved round of applause when the covers go on and when they come back off.

Great images again! I love the portrait (as opposed to landscape) one! The woman in the front row is determined to enjoy her mocha-chocca-whatever, whether it’s raining or not! 🙂 Now we just want to see the tennis players! 🙂
