Cheeky Pine Marten

Whenever I am in Scotland I almost always stop at Queen Elizabeth Forest Park, in the Trossachs, to photograph the wonderful array of birds and in particular the red squirrels which is what I was doing when these photos were taken.

It was early in the morning and I had been in the squirrel hide for probably 2-3 hrs ( I’m a bit obsessive ! ) when this pine marten appeared.

I had never seen one before and certainly wasn’t expecting to see one here. I was almost too surprised to take photos but managed to contain myself and took a dozen or so before it disappeared again; off into the forest.  Unfortunately it was quite a long way off but happy to have managed to get it , feeding on peanuts put out for the squirrels ! Cheeky!

In the Uk they are known to be elusive so this was especially thrilling.
