Close to Home 131 : Acrobatics

I am currently doing my 2nd 366, it’s another leap year; posting ( not taking!) at least 1 photo every day. My last one was in 2012

There will certainly be variety

This is number 268

Part of my #CloseToHome series.

I have no idea what type of insect this is just that I love it.

UPDATE : I am reliably informed that it is a member of the ichneuman species of wasp.

You can see the rest of the #CloseToHome series here

Below is the original reason for starting this 366, before the pandemic hit!

Part of why I am doing this 366 is because I take a lot of photos, I love being out and about, but often they are not looked at for months or even years  and this exercise encourages me to look at them and choose favourites. When my last 366 ended I made 4 photo books of my favourites. I intend to do that again.

If you don’t already know my other blog 1500 Saturdays I hope you’ll pop over and take a look, though I don’t post much these days here

  1. I’m afraid I cannot be sure what type of insect that is but it’s a great photo. I took some pictures of a wood wasp a few years ago (link below) and the long sting like tail turned out to be an ovipositer used to drill into wood where it lays it’s eggs. It was quite incredible to see this little thing have the strength to ‘drill’ into the wood. Your insect doesn’t look the same but it may be in the same family of insects.
    Best wishes
    Mr C 🙂
