Around Venice and its Lagoon

.

I am currently doing my 2nd 366, it’s another leap year; posting ( not taking!) at least 1 photo every day. My last one was in 2012

There will certainly be variety

This is number 124

The camera club I belong to meets every Monday night and has continued this since the lock down, but via Zoom.  It’s been a lot of fun. We have external speakers every fortnight and on the Mondays in-between we have competitions and sometimes group members are asked to do 10 minute slots showing some of their work that hasn’t been shown before.

Last Monday we had a session called Golden Nuggets where some of us showed a selection of photos from at least 5 years ago.  I chose Venice as my subject and I thought I’d show you my 10.

All photos were taken in either Nov 2011 ( the Acqua Alta ones) with a little Fujifilm Finepix S5600 camera or in Dec 2011 with my Nikon D5100 which I had bought shortly before the visit and had little idea how to use !!  The last one was taken in 2005, apparently on a Sony of some sort.

The very 1st photo I posted on this blog was taken during the Christmas 2011 trip  and you can see it here

If you’ve been following this blog since the beginning you’ll recognise a couple of these ( and you deserve a medal!)

The critical moment. This man, above, was showing off with his wife/girlfriend and this was the moment his plastic bag boots leaked. I suspect the water was very cold !

I cannot explain this last one  so don’t ask! All I know is that I rushed into the shop took the photo and rushed back out !  It’s not titled Bizarre for nothing.

Part of why I am doing this 366 is because I take a lot of photos, I love being out and about, but often they are not looked at for months or even years  and this exercise encourages me to look at them and choose favourites. When my last 366 ended I made 4 photo books of my favourites. I intend to do that again.

If you don’t already know my other blog 1500 Saturdays I hope you’ll pop over and take a look, though I don’t post much these days here
