Photos and Poetry 29 – He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother (also Another Place 5)

I am currently doing my 2nd 366, it’s another leap year; posting ( not taking!) at least 1 photo every day. My last one was in 2012

There will certainly be variety

This is number 97

You can see the others in the Another Place series here

You can see the other posts in the Photos and Poetry series here

I positioned myself to take this photo of 2 of the sculptures specifically so that I could use it in my Photos and Poetry series; coupling it with the song He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother.

In light of the Covid 19 Pandemic it now seems very symbolic and the words of the song very poignant.

If you don’t know the song you can hear The Hollies singing it here

Carry the weight

.

He Ain’t Heavy He’s My Brother

The road is long
With many a winding turn
That leads us to who knows where
Who knows where
But I’m strong
Strong enough to carry him
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother

So on we go
His welfare is of my concern
No burden is he to bear
We’ll get there

For I know
He would not encumber me
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother

If I’m laden at all
I’m laden with sadness
That everyone’s heart
Isn’t filled with the gladness
Of love for one another

It’s a long, long road
From which there is no return
While we’re on the way to there
Why not share

And the load
Doesn’t weigh me down at all
He ain’t heavy he’s my brother

He’s my brother
He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother, he ain’t heavy

Part of why I am doing this 366 is because I take a lot of photos, I love being out and about, but often they are not looked at for months or even years  and this exercise encourages me to look at them and choose favourites. When my last 366 ended I made 4 photo books of my favourites. I intend to do that again.

If you don’t already know my other blog 1500 Saturdays I hope you’ll pop over and take a look, though I don’t post much these days here
