Photos and Poetry 20 – Blackbird

I am currently doing my 2nd 366; posting at least 1 photo every day.

This is number 21

Blackbird

Take
The tangerine sun
Strolling past
Our Earth
To make the beak.

Take
The vibrant colour of a fox’s eye
Trudging through the freshly fallen leaves
To make the eyes.

Take
The soft touch of a flower
Bursting from its bud
For the feathers.

And finally take
The sharpest flint
That wanders with a cave man’s life
Side by side for centuries
For the mighty claws.

This poem was a winner in the 2015 RSPB Birds Challenge on The Poetry Society’s Young Poets Network. I hope Harriet will not mind me coupling her poem with my photograph.

If you don’t already know my other blog 1500 Saturdays I hope you’ll pop over and take a look, though I don’t post much these days here
