Weekly Photo Challenge: Perspective – and yes it’s as scary as it looks !
.
Perspective – “a visible scene; especially: one giving a distinctive impression of distance”
Does this photograph qualify do you think ? 😉
.
.
It’s the truly magnificent Pontcysyllte Aqueduct in North Wales and I’ll post more from here another day/s

Wow, distance for sure! That’s a long way to the ground. And no railing on one side!!
No railing but a canal between the people and the drop 🙂
Still, it makes them look vulnerable, which does emphasize the distance!
It’s all in the perspective 😉
Wow – I really had too look more closely to see the canal, and I would have missed it completely if you hadn’t mentioned it. Awesome photo – my wife wants to visit Wales one day, so we’ll have remember this to put Pontcys..(sp). Aqueduct on an itinerary.
A super example of single point perspective and an interesting picture as a bonus!!
DONT LOOK IF YOU SUFFER FROM ACROPHOBIA 🙂

How English to have a moat on one side instead of a railing! 😉 Great picture!
haha.. very funny Priscilla!
Great shot – the perspective tells the story and raises questions – what is a gust of wind . . .
should read “what if a gust of wind . . . “
Ah yes…. I think I would not have been up there if it had been windy!!
Great photo for the theme! Not a stroll for the faint hearted! 😉
Absolutely not TaC
It certainly does Helen. Apparently having no ground beneath your feet, adds greatly to the impression.
It does doesn’t it Dave… 😉
Stunning image, but I think I just got Vertigo from your post 🙂
haha.. I’m not at all surprised Shane 🙂

Wow, you wouldn’t get me up there, Helen! Very striking picture, and I especially like the reflections of the couple and the railings in the standing water – there are two other people, walking along below the path! A 🙂
Glad you like it Adrian.. I’mn actually rather proud of this one 🙂
Definitely perspective in two directions – length and height. Twice the value in a single image, Helen
Nice way of putting it thanks Andy
SUPER!
Thanks absengeralois… super will do very nicely 🙂
I’d say it qualifies. No way you’d get me to walk over that, even with the aqueduct right there to fall into. I remember walking on a trail in Zion National Park. It was some distance up the side of a pretty straight-up-and-down really huge cliff (they get they way in Zion’s). There was about as much distance between the wall of the cliff and the straight-down drop-off as the walk and the aqueduct put together, and I had such a case of acrophobia that I had to stop and breathe really deeply and slowly. 🙂 I’m generally okay hiking across mountainsides, but for some reason, a steep drop-off just seemed a little bit more hazardous than rolling down a much-less steep mountain path. LOL
As for me, this theme was a bit of a challenge, but you’re welcome to come and see my take on the matter. 🙂

I’m with you on the steep drop- off bit.. very scary!

Wow …. this is such a fantastic shot!!!!! I’m so scared of heights .. just looking at your photo makes me a bit dizzy. *smile Excellent.
Thanks Viveka.. for some reason I don’t find things so scary when I have a camera in my hand 😉
You’re a tough cookie, Helen. Heights makes me faint. Not at all worried when I know that I’m so high up that I will not survive a fall. I’m a bit wired.
😀
Very nice shot, especially because heights can bother me at times and this shot makes my heart pound just a bit more than normal.
It made my heart pound too Dalo !!
