The Swansong

This is the final photo in the swan series I’ve been showing you over the last 3 days. I hope you have enjoyed it as much as I have.

  1. That’s superb, Helen, absolutely superb >>> one of your best ever photos! Its a piece of art. Incredibly simple and Minimalist, the whle thing looks more like a painting or a piece of abstract design – I am totally humbled! And I’m going to reblog it. Adrian

    To me, this is simply Helen Cherry’s greatest image. It is the epitome of beauty, simplicity and Minimalism, more like a painting or some piece of abstract design than a photograph. Against the backdrop, which consists of slightly textured white feathers with some small water droplets, there is a sinuously curving neck, with a slightly brownish tinge that separates it perfectly from the backdrop. My eyes follow this curve up and round to the left, until it plunges into the “explosion” of feathers being preened. A little of the dark skin on the bird’s face is the sole remaining hint to its identity. Simply wonderful stuff – looking at it, I feel humbled and jealous. FATman
