Landscapes – Light and colours of Cumbria 1

I was struck dumb ( a great rarity! ) on several occasions by the colour of the landscape in Cumbria, which was magnified a hundredfold when the clouds parted to allow shafts of light to reach land.

This was just such an occasion, when I had to stop the car and get my camera out quickly to catch the light, which grew and grew on the mountains in front of me and just as quickly vanished as the clouds closed in again.

These are the real colours !

I thought it looked as though there was fire on the horizon.

  1. These are amazing! The second shot looks like a conglomerate of two completely different planets, like instead of a sky there’s this golden rocky moon hovering right above you. Surreal!

    • It did look Surreal at the time.. the lanscape looked very ordinary as I approached and it was drizzling where I was and then suddenly a break in the clouds and this !
